A Campaign to Criminalize Britain

Palestinian youth are running a signature-collection campaign to criminalize the British government for the crimes it committed against the Palestinian people — crimes that ultimately led to all the tragedies, sorrows, and pains that have befallen the people of Palestine since 1917. They see the British government as the root cause and the sickness itself, the party primarily responsible for everything the Palestinian people have suffered, are suffering, and will go on suffering in the way of calamities and catastrophes.

These young people, led by Rami Mashaarqa, are independent patriots who belong to no Palestinian organization or party. They represent the broader stratum of Palestinian youth, not the youth wings of the factions, and they work for Palestine, with no connection to the political rivalries at play on the Palestinian scene.

I follow the work of these young people, and I see in them zeal, courage, dignity, and belonging. They are burning with the desire to do something that serves their homeland and their people’s cause, and they need every encouragement and support. Britain will certainly not listen now to the voice of the Palestinian people, but pressure on it must keep rising, so that the Palestinian, Arab, and Islamic generations — and the British generations too — come to know the scale of the crimes this state committed against the people of Palestine and the Arab peoples. What these young people are doing is historic and important, at the very least from the standpoint of documentation, the preservation of rights, and raising the awareness of future generations.

These young people mistakenly turned to some Palestinian politicians for help, but discovered that the national aura the media paints around such figures is nothing but an aura of falseness and hypocrisy.

…-Britain, criminalizing it, holding it responsible, and demanding that it restore matters to what they were in 1917, and compensate the Palestinians for every material and moral loss.

These are young people in need of support. They need financial support first of all, and without money they cannot move. I therefore call upon all our brothers and sisters to offer support to the best of their ability, so that this work can be accomplished. This, even though the practice of donating for national purposes is nearly absent from the Palestinian scene — a strange thing, arising originally from an unsound, faction-based upbringing. We must reach into our own pockets and donate, so that this work gets done. A small donation accomplishes a great deal. Every dollar contributes to completing the task.

One can also contribute by helping to collect signatures, and by volunteering to join the committee overseeing the campaign. The current committee is a temporary one, and it extends its hand to every Palestinian thinker, intellectual, and patriot, at home and abroad, to contribute.
