Abbas Spits in the Face of the Palestinian People

In his interview with the Zionist Channel 10 on November 1, 2012, Abbas gathered up every drop of spittle he could summon and hurled it into the face of the Palestinian people. Abbas held in contempt the fixed national rights of the Palestinian people, dismissed Palestinian resistance, trampled on the refugees’ right of return, and dragged the people’s necks through the mud when he said that although he is from Safed, he has no right to live there.

There are presidents and kings who hold their peoples in contempt and despise them, who drag their dignity through filth, but no president or king has ever done such things with this degree of arrogance, this openness, this scorn. Were Abbas not confident of the people’s submission, and of its acceptance of humiliation and insult, he would never have dared such words. Were he not confident that an audience would applaud him and ask for still more spittle, he would have hesitated to trespass against us in this way.

Abbas: know that history does not extend its rope forever, and God have mercy on the man who keeps for himself a path of return. You have shown contempt for our feelings, our rights, our pain, our blood, our children’s tears, and our widows’ cries, as though you were the one and only god untouched by any deity. You have spat in our faces and smeared them with the blackest soot, and made us appear a herd of rabbits or sheep fit only to smell the scent of their own dead and their own disgrace. I am certain you want to please the Zionists, hoping they might take pity on you, but you are doing so by turning the Palestinian people into a plaything and a laughingstock before the nations. Rest assured: your spittle in the people’s face will not raise your standing with the Zionists, and their glands will not secrete a drop of pity for you. They do not respect the weak, and respond to nothing but strength.

You, Abbas, are not president of the Authority or of the people, because your term has expired, and you are seizing the leadership by force, with no legitimate face to it whatsoever; nor are you chairman of the Liberation Organization, because the Palestinian National Council tore up the Charter, insulted it, and toyed with the fate of the Palestinian people. Whoever holds his own covenants in contempt does not represent the people of Palestine.

Your words fall back upon you, and we, the unyielding people of Palestine, will rise, and the history of peoples confirms that the final outcome belongs to those who hold fast to the burning coal.

I say to you: I have land in the Palestine occupied in 1948, and neither you, nor anyone greater than you, nor all the powers of the earth combined can push me or force me to give it up. I have scooped up its soil and set it on the table beside the olive oil, and my children have dipped their bread in that oil and adorned it with the pure, sacred earth, and eaten. The land is in my blood and in theirs. You are deluded — a thousand times deluded. Give up whatever you are peddling, for you are far too powerless to negate Palestine. Palestine is ours.
