Dance for Abbas: Off to America and Back Again

Almost every day we prove to ourselves anew that political adolescence describes our conduct, and we prove that the Palestinian cause has fallen behind the backs of a vast segment of the Palestinian people. Beyond the adolescent rhetoric and the self-incriminating statements traded between Abbas and Dahlan, Palestinian officials afflicted with sterility, their hearts overrun with hypocrisy, charlatanism, and deception, come out to shut down educational institutions — schools and universities alike — in order to stage displays of support for Abbas. These people regard schools as sheep farms belonging to those who spawned them, to be manipulated whenever they need a bit of political clowning. Ever since the Authority’s arrival, schools have been used for factional political purposes that do a disservice to Palestine and to the Palestinian people. Instead of caring about every single teaching hour, and about raising the level of education in schools and universities, they treat educational institutions as human warehouses whose task is to clap, whistle, clown around, and chant — this despite the fact that most students leave the institution for their homes and refuse to take part in this base slave-trading.

…so as to lead their students into a marketplace of petty one-upmanship, in which words stuffed with lies, forgery, and deception are hurled about.

Off went Abu Mazen to Washington — out they trotted a show of support for him — and back he came from America — out they trotted a celebration of the resounding victories he had achieved, victories that supposedly threw Obama and his aides to the ground and dragged his nose through the mud. This especially since we saw him on screen grabbing Obama’s two big ears, hauling him along the street by them, and trampling on his head.

So, Abbas, why exactly did you go to America? And what severed heads did you bring back in the burlap sack you took with you?

One would hope the level of public awareness has risen after hearing Abbas incriminate himself in his own remarks about Dahlan. He incriminated himself, because he does the very same things he accuses Dahlan of.

Such displays are nothing new to the Palestinian people or to the Arab peoples generally. The defeated always work to cover up their defeats with sham festivities that the public knows in advance carry no substance, and are nothing but hollow rhetoric bearing no relation to the truth whatsoever. What some of them do by manipulating the Palestinian street does a disservice to the national struggle, and represents a stubborn insistence on failure, abasement, and flight from the truth.

Enough contempt for this people.
