No Sovereignty for Jordan

Media reports sometimes conflict over the presence of American forces in Jordan working to organize certain plans regarding the situation in Syria, and some political statements likewise conflict: some confirm the existence of an American military and intelligence role in Jordan, some deny it, and some cast doubt on it. A number of those who deny or cast doubt rely on statements by Jordanian political officials.

Arab experience says that the statements of foreigners about conditions and activities in the Arab arena are more truthful than the statements of Arab officials and leaders. Arab leaders lie constantly, and the last thing that crosses their minds is honesty with the peoples they oppress and subjugate to their enemies. Even the leaders of the Zionist entity, despite their many lies, are less mendacious than Arab leaders. For this reason, there is no comparison between the credibility of American statements about sending soldiers and experts to Jordan to monitor the Syrian situation, and Jordanian statements.

…the will of the Western states that created and supported the Jordanian regime, and through the money the regime receives in order to purchase people’s loyalty. Jordan has no sovereignty, and the condition of this fiefdom is similar to the fiefdom of Palestinian self-rule; it remains standing only so long as it stands guard over the interests of the West and Israel.

As with the Palestinian Authority, there are two circles in Jordan: one civil, concerned with the people’s daily and civil affairs, and the other conspiratorial, embodied in the head of the regime and the leaders of the security apparatuses, who coordinate with external security powers, chief among them the United States and Israel. The first circle is represented by the government and the directors of the various civil institutions. The prime minister and the ministers know nothing beyond administrative matters, and they are mere employees with no relation to setting the general policies of the fiefdom. The prime minister neither knows nor draws up policy, and neither does the speaker of the National Assembly or its members.

The Americans do not wait for a Jordanian cabinet decision before sending forces or weapons into Jordan. They simply decide and send, after informing their agents of their intentions. This is how it was during the war on Iraq, and this is how it is with regard to the regime’s historic relations with the Zionist movement, and with Israel after the establishment of the entity.

America has maintained forces in Jordan for many long years, and the American embassy in Amman governs and decides — let no one deceive himself when trying to read the political map of the Arab homeland. Jordan is not unique in this wretched characteristic; most Arab countries share it.

It is notable that the opposition in Jordan continues to deceive itself by constantly demanding the replacement of the prime minister. This is nonsense — even if the prime minister changed every single day, there would be no change in Jordan’s policy.
